Katie Williams works with the IRS in Communications and Stakeholder Outreach. She has worked for the IRS for over 30 years in the Taxpayer Advocate’s Office, as a Revenue Agent, Tax Auditor, and currently as a liaison with the tax practitioner and small business organizations.
Katie also worked on an IRS Design Team for a year and a half in Washington, D. C. and is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Michelle Breed-Acting LTA Taxpayer Advocate Service
Michelle graduated from the University of Hawaii with a B.Ed. in Mathematics. She student taught high school math in Hawaii before moving to San Diego after college. Shortly thereafter, she began her IRS career 10 years ago as a revenue officer here in San Diego. As a revenue officer, she resolved high-dollar cases involving various collection issues such as special condition liens and levies. She gained experience with tax laws, employment tax issues and collection resolutions. In 2016, Michelle was selected as the taxpayer advocate group manager for the new Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) office in San Diego, which opened its doors June 9, 2016. TAS is an independent organization within the IRS that helps taxpayers resolve problems with IRS that they have been unable to resolve through normal channels. TAS also protects taxpayer rights and makes legislative recommendations to Congress for changes to IRS procedures and tax laws to avoid similar problems in the future. Michelle brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to advocate for all taxpayers. She is excited to provide quality service and relief to San Diego’s taxpayers and organizations.
